My First Commission — MSgt Brian “WOODY” Norton

Every business has a first commissioned piece. This was mine, but the person I made it for made it especially meaningful.

MSgt Brian “WOODY” Norton has been a mentor, supervisor, colleague, and friend. I had the privilege of serving alongside Woody in both the 963rd AACS and the 552nd Training Squadron, so when he became my first commissioned customer, this wasn't just another project.

I designed the board around his Air Force service and the 250th anniversary of the United States, incorporating the American flags, eagle, E-3 AWACS aircraft, and imagery representing the 963rd AACS. I wanted the finished piece to recognize his career while also creating something that was uniquely his.

I've learned a tremendous amount since making this board, and my work continues to evolve. But I'll always remember this one. My first commission came from someone I had served with, learned from, worked beside, and am proud to call a friend.

There could not have been a more fitting person for Vinstigator's first commissioned piece.
