I made this personalized olive wood board for my daughter Madeline and Joseph. I truly love my daughter, and when I make something for her, I want it to have meaning beyond simply putting her name on it.
As I worked with the olive wood, the natural grain reminded me of the rolling hills of Italy. With my family's Italian heritage, I decided to lean into that connection and let it influence the design.
Rather than covering the beautiful grain with a heavy engraving, I designed the artwork to work with the natural movement of the wood. The grain became part of the piece and part of its story.
This one was personal. It brought together my love for my daughter, our family heritage, and my love of making something with my own hands that is uniquely hers.
